Wedding Vows - To Write or Not To Write

THE VOW EXPERIENCE

Wedding vows, that time of the ceremony when you face each other looking into each other's eyes to promise your love and life to one another.  This is a special moment although for some, can be nerve racking.  Some couples choose to write their own vows, and some choose to go the traditional way of having the officiant recite something that they repeat.  Whichever way chosen, it is a beautiful moment.

TO WRITE OR NOT TO WRITE

This is entirely up to the couple.  One choice does not win over the other especially when there is true meaning to the event that is taking place, the exchanging of promises to one another.

 WRITING YOUR VOWS

If you do decide to write vows, there are a few avenues to go.

  •  Speak freely from the heart, quite impromptu in the moment if you have an idea and are confident about what you wish to say
  • Write your vows freely from your heart with no guidelines or assistance
  • Hire a poet to write for you
  • Your officiant may be able to assist you in writing
  • Get aid from a book.  There are many available.  One that a married couple recommended, ("With These Words I Thee Wed" by Barbara Eklof).
  • Various internet sites with steps and tips on writing vows

In our next blog,  we will give you some tips on how to write your vows.  What a wonderful time to express your love, "Tell it like it really is!"
